A Note From Our Principal,
We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with loved ones and we enjoyed celebrating with you all last month. As the winter holidays approach we have many special events planned for our students and families and look forward to spending time with you all. Inclement Weather Reminders
We do not always follow the closure schedule of the local public schools because we don’t have to contend with the same transportation issues as public schools. Our goal is to be open as many days as possible to support our working parents. If we must close because our teachers cannot safely get to work, you will receive a notification via Links 2 Home as soon as the closure is announced. We also post notifications on our website and Facebook page.
Winter Clothing Reminder
If you’ve not already done so, please ensure they have an extra set of weather appropriate clothes labeled with their name. Students also need to come to school each day with a jacket and dressed warm enough to play outside for part of the day. If the weather is brisk we still go outside for active play and recess and want everyone to be able to participate!
Holiday Closures
Our school is closed on December 24th/25th for Christmas Eve and December 31st/January 1st for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Winter Break Camp
We will be holding Winter Break Camp for our School-Age students from December 23rd-January 3rd. We will have fun Winter theme-based activities, STEAM learning opportunities and holiday projects planned. Students may attend all or part of Winter Break Camp, please let us know by Friday December 13th if your child will be attending.
Holiday Giving Initiative
Evergreen Academy Preschool is partnering with Hopelink for our Holiday Giving Tree outreach project. If you would like to participate, please visit the main office and pick a tag off of the tree. Purchase a gift listed on the tag, and place it under the tree no later than December 10th when our Elementary students will be delivering the gifts to Hopelink. These gifts give families in need the opportunity to choose something to give to their little ones.

Ways Our Students Are Giving Back This Holiday Season
The holidays are a time for giving, and as you know, our schools are doing their part in giving back to those in need. We greatly appreciate all the parent support with these initiatives, in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. The donations not only matter to those who receive them, but our students are so proud to help others.
Below are just a few ways we’re giving back this year.
- Students will visit senior centers to enjoy holiday meals with residents, sing carols, distribute handmade cards, and decorate ornaments.
- Students will work together to collect food for families in need. Students will deliver their donations to the food bank, tour the facility and learn about how their contributions will help others.
- Some schools will host gift drives for local children’s hospitals. Students will collect art supplies, coloring books, games, and movies for children to enjoy while they are receiving treatment at the hospital.
- Students will spread holiday cheer by delivering cookies to community helpers. They’ll measure and mix ingredients, roll the dough, place the baked goodies in boxes, and deliver them with handmade cards.
- Some of our schools will collect winter coats, mittens and hats this month. Students are encouraged to will deliver them to a local homeless shelter.
- Many of our schools will have a giving tree in the lobby where families can choose a tag and purchase a gift for a child in need.
- Students will participate in a “wish week” to collect money for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. They’ll wrap gifts, auction off artwork, decorate ornaments, sell cookies, and much more to raise funds.
