Dear Evergreen Academy Preschool Families,
Welcome to December!
The holiday season is in full swing, and the joy that this time of year brings is truly upon us. It is especially wonderful to see the magic of the season through the children’s eyes. As the 2018 calendar year comes to an end, I would like to take a moment and thank you all for your participation in our Hopelink Food Drive Community Outreach project. This was a great opportunity to teach the children what it means to give back. Your generosity is truly appreciated by both the faculty and I. We are incredibly lucky to have such wonderful families be a part of our Evergreen Academy Preschool community. Together, we collected a total of 495 pounds of food which provided 276 meals to families in need in our area! That is truly something to be proud of.
We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with loved ones and we enjoyed celebrating with you all last month. We’ve also enclosed important winter and holiday procedure reminders in this newsletter. Please read through it carefully and reach out to myself or another member of the administration team if you have any questions or concerns.
Inclement Weather Reminders
We do not always follow the closure schedule of the local public schools because we don’t have to contend with the same transportation issues as public schools. Our goal is to be open as many days as possible to support our working parents. If we must close because our teachers cannot safely get to work, you will receive a notification via Links 2 Home as soon as the closure is announced. We also post notifications on our website.
Winter Clothing Reminder
If you’ve not already done so, please check to ensure your child has a set of weather appropriate clothes at school. Students also need to come to school each day with a hat, gloves or mittens, and a jacket to be dressed warmly enough to play outside for part of the day. If the weather is wet or brisk we will still go outside for active games and movement activities and want everyone to be able to participate!
Holiday Closures
Our school is closed on December 24th and December 25th, as well as December 31st and January 1st.
Winter Break Camp
We will be holding a Winter Break Camp for our students. Students may attend all or part of Winter Break Camp, please let us know by December 12th if your child will be attending.
Holiday Giving Tree Project
We have partnered with Child Haven and West Side Baby for our annual Giving Tree Community Outreach Project. If you would like to participate, please take a tag from the Giving Tree in the front office. All gifts must be returned unwrapped with tag attached by December 6th.
